💡Terminology
Key Terms and Concepts in the AstroChain Ecosystem.
Blockchain: A decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across a network of computers in a secure and transparent way.
NFT (Non-Fungible Token): A unique digital asset that represents ownership of a specific item, such as an artwork, collectible, or video game item, on a blockchain. Unlike cryptocurrencies, NFTs cannot be exchanged for an equivalent value.
Royalty: Royalties are paid in perpetuity, which means that you'll continue to receive royalties each time one of your digital assets is sold to a new NFT holder.
dApp (Decentralised Application): A software application that operates on a decentralised blockchain network, offering users a secure and transparent platform for transactions and data storage.
IPFS (InterPlanetary File System): A peer-to-peer file sharing protocol that allows users to store and access data in a decentralised network.
Polygon Network: Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum blockchain that enables fast and cheap transactions, making it ideal for decentralized applications, games, and NFTs. It allows for increased scalability, lower gas fees and faster confirmation times compared to Ethereum's mainnet.
Spaceibles Marketplace: The Spaceibles Marketplace is a platform that offers access to a range of products and services related to the space industry by Copernic Space.
ATC NFT (Astro Token Card Non-Fungible Token): NFTs created by AstroChain to provide access to the AstroFeed, a community-driven database of astronomical anomalies, as well as a royalty program, where ATC NFT holders can earn rewards from supporting astrophotographers and space enthusiasts. Other benefits include the ability to participate in the revenue sharing model and the potential to increase in value as the AstroChain project grows and expands.
AstroFeed: A social platform for Astrophotographers and space enthusiast to share content and mint content onto the blockchain.
AstroHub: A device designed for observing astronomical events, equipped with high-end equipment such as fisheye cameras, temperature gauges, and passive radar. Users can book a time slot to use the device and receive the NFTs of the captured content.
Astro Anomaly Database: The first and largest database of astronomical anomalies captured by AstroHubs and partner devices, stored on the IPFS network as NFTs.
Revenue Sharing Model: A business model in which a portion of the revenue generated by a product or service is shared among stakeholders, such as content creators, platform developers and investors.
